Smell of childhood

I was thinking today that I want to remember the smells of my children's childhood. The smell of bark and sand and sweat from a good long play outside. The smell of maple syrup in the afternoon linering from a long and warm breakfast. The smell of grass because we laid looking at the clouds or stars. The smell of lavendar soap and lotion after bath time and the feeling of warm kid skin against my own. I think smells take us back to a moment in time better than any other senses and I never want to forget these moments. Though, in all honesty, I hope to foeget the tantrums and poor choices and parenting mistakes and misteps along the way and just remember the good moments.
